Your Stories / Itsy Bitsy
« on: 04:05 PM, 02/10/22 »
Spiders were something I was never afraid of. Even as a kid they never phased me. Same with most Creepy Crawlies. If anything I loved bugs then. Still do now.

It's hard to say where that love came from. Might have been from cartoons.

Though I don't blame you if you hate them. Arachnophobia might be one of the most common phobias in the world. My town might have the biggest case of Arachnophobia though.

That's because of the town's local legend "Itsy Bitsy".

Itsy Bitsy was (according to those who claim to have seen it) an 8ft humanoid spider-like creature that lived deep into the woods. I don't remember much of the original story but I'll try to recollect as much as I can.

In the 1950s a married couple was driving through a path in the woods late at night. As they were driving the wife claimed to have seen something moving among the trees. The husband dismissed his wife.

Then the car suddenly stopped. The couple was confused. The husband tried to get the car to drive forward but he couldn't. He told his wife to stay in the car and he got out of it.

He looks at the front tires and sees that they are covered in thick webbing.

Suddenly, they hear a voice. A strange cheery voice singing.

"The Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the water spout…"
The couple was reasonably afraid at this point but before they could do anything about it the husband was yanked up from the air by an unseen force. Then was slammed back down onto the car. The wife screamed, got out of the car, and ran off.

There have been tons of sightings and encounters since then. All of them including the creature singing that old song.

I never believed in Itsy Bitsy. Even as a kid. The story was entertaining though.

I was 17 I think. My parents forced me to join them at the family reunion. Deep in that forest. Just like every year.

I hated going to these. They were so boring and I barely remember anyone that was there. Other than a few uncles and aunts.

I decided to just slip into the woods and just wander around. I don't know how far I went. It must have been far because I couldn't find the trail anymore.

There was something on the trees. Just a strangely large amount of webbing. I looked at it puzzlingly. I've never seen this much in one place before.

The trees were completely covered. It didn't make sense at all. But there was also a strange large shape in the webbing. I went to take a closer look.

It was vaguely shaped like a human. I started to pull at webs. Ripping off large clumps of it.

There it was.

A withered husk of a person. It looked like it was completely hollow. Its body was covered in this yellow goopy liquid.

That's when I heard it.

"The Itsy Bitsy Spider…"

Your Stories / Buzz Off!
« on: 04:03 PM, 02/10/22 »
"Exterminator", The strange man said. Standing outside my apartment.

"I didn't call for one", I said. "Well if no one called one then why am I here?", The man said in his dry raspy voice.

He wore a grey jumpsuit with a black leather apron with rubber gloves and boots to match. The apron had "Buzz Off!" Written on it. Most notable was his mask. He wore a strange red ant gas mask.  I couldn't see his eyes through those yellow lenses.

"Who are you?" I asked. "The name's Roach", the man replied. "Now move outta my way!" Roach then shoved me to the side and entered my apartment before I could do anything. He moved around the place. Pushing and knocking over anything that got in his way.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I said. Reasonably pissed at the situation. "Looking" Roach simply responded. "For What?" I asked.

Roach suddenly stopped and turned to look at me. "I'm looking… for vermin".

"Get the hell out!" I shouted. Tired of whatever the fuck was going on.

"I was going anyway," Roach said walking past me. He left and started pulling the same shit to the person next door. Then so on and so on.

After he was done harassing everyone he simply entered his van. That had the same "Buzz Off!" Writing on its side and drove off.

The rest of the day was pretty normal. Though the thought of that man didn't leave my head.

The next morning I woke up with this tingling feeling. I didn't think much about it at first but when I lifted my hand to rub my eyes into focus.

Ants.

Everywhere.

All over my bed. I jumped and looked in horror at the writhing mass covering my sheets. Suddenly I heard screams from the other apartments. It turned out I wasn't the only one with a bug problem.

I grabbed a can of Febreze and just started spraying everywhere covering my mouth whilst doing so. I wanted these vile things dead. But they just wouldn't stop crawling everywhere.

For everyone, I killed ten more took their place.

I was too busy spraying that I didn't notice Roach. He walked through the halls. Sprayer in hand. Shooting a neon green-looking gas from it. More ants followed.

I heard coughing and wheezing laughter. Whatever that gas was, it was filling up the place.

I started coughing too. The ants were crawling out of every crack and hole they could. They looked endless. The gas was rising and Roach's laughter was getting closer.

I fell to the floor. I started coughing violently. It felt like my insides were burning.

I looked up to see a familiar mask. Roach aimed the sprayer at my face. Ants were crawling all over him. He let out a wheezing laugh.

"I love my job".

Your Stories / Sick

I'm not a very social individual. I barely ever go outside. I've just never been a fan of people.

I like to keep to myself and keep everything around me nice and clean. Because of that, I don't usually get sick from any contagion.

It must have happened overnight. I don't know how else it could've happened.

I woke up and was in the middle of my morning routine when I noticed something covering the outside of my front window. It looked like plastic. It was odd, to say the least.

I opened my front door and the same plastic was right there. I tried to move it out of the way but it wouldn't budge. It wouldn't even tear.

I checked every other door and window. It didn't matter. It seemed that my entire house was wrapped in this… this prison.

I kept trying to push and pull on the plastic but it still wouldn't tear. I even used a knife and it caused the same results. "Help!" I screamed, "What's going on!?".

No response. At least not to me. I heard muffled talking. I couldn't exactly tell what was going on outside but I could make out a group of people just standing there. Probably as confused as I am.

Then a black truck drove up and people in strange-looking hazmat gear emerged out. They seemed to wear the usual yellow and black kinda gear. But they had a lot more of what I could tell as oxygen tubes and tanks wrapped around them.

I screamed to try to get anyone's attention. But either nobody knew I was there or they just didn't care.

The Hazmat team then made their way towards my house. I couldn't tell what they were saying but they must've told the people to get out.

They made it to the front door. I stood there face to face with one. I looked right into their gas mask's lens. I couldn't see anything. It was just… dark. He looked at me for what felt like an eternity. Yet it was almost like he was looking through me.

He said something. Most of it was incredibly muffled by both the mask and the plastic. But I could make out one word.

"Contaminated".

That word caused me to freak out. I had no idea what they were talking about. "I'm not sick!" I shouted at them. "I'm not sick!".

The Hazmat team ignored me and started to shove a tube into my front window. A strange purple gas started emerging from it. I frantically clawed and screamed but quickly tried to keep as much distance between me and the gas as possible.

I decided to go into my basement and lock it. I quickly grabbed the kitchen knife again just in case and quickly went down into my basement and quickly closed it.

I sat there and tried to wait it out. Whatever "it" was.

I went down a bit further in the basement to try and find the light switch. That's when I started to hear breathing. Heavy painful-sounding breaths.

I gripped the knife tighter in my hand and flipped the light switch.

I don't know what I thought I was going to see. But a tall, squirming, moist-looking, blob of flesh was not it.

I fell back. Dropping the knife. One of its big black eyes turned to look at me. A flap opened up revealing a drooling mouth with misplaced human teeth. It let out a pained cry and wiggled and wormed its way towards me.

I stabbed it. It whaled horribly.

Then I stabbed it again.

Then again.

Then again.

I didn't stop until the repulsive creature stopped crying. I was drenched in its blood.

I felt sick.

This must have been it.

I started coughing as I exited my basement. The Hazmat team was inside of my house. It was filled with that purple gas but I didn't care. I killed it. I was free.

They walked up to me. I told them everything. I said, "it's in the basement, I killed it, you can leave now". But they just stared at me with their dark as the void lens.

"Didn't you hear me?" I said, "I killed it, I'm not sick! I killed it! I'm not sick, don't you understand!". They still just stared at me.

"Please… just let me go" I started to break down crying. Finally one of them spoke.

"Contaminated".

Your Stories / The Happy Place
« on: 05:04 PM, 09/29/21 »
Where do I begin?

Well, I guess it happened when I was very young. Must've still been in third grade. The end of the schooler year was closing in. Definitely the best days for kids. I remember being really excited about the school field trip. It would be an amusement park.

End-of-school field trips are always a blast. I made sure I had the money for snacks and of course the arcade. That was my favorite part, to be honest, other than the rides obviously.

That day arrived and I went with all my friends. We were in a small group of four, Jason, Michael, Louis, and  I. We went on plenty of rides. One of those being a haunted house ride which I loved. Though it did scare me a bit if I remember. That just means It's doing Its job though.

After that, we went to the arcade. We play the many House of the Dead cabinets as well as Carnevil. Rail shooters were my favorite. We didn't know exactly what to do for the rest of our time there so we just explored around.

At some point, I went to get something to eat. The rest weren't hungry. They said they were gonna head back to the arcade. I told them I'll meet them there.

After I got myself a burger and some fries I started to head back to the arcade. I eventually got there but I couldn't find them. I looked all over the building to try to find them.

That's when I saw something. A picket sign with the words "Happy Place" written on it along with an arrow pointing to a part of the arcade that I guess I never noticed before. I walked to wherever the sign pointed to and I saw a tall man dressed up almost like a member of an old barbershop quartet.

His skin was a pale grey, he seemed to have a long almost exaggerated-looking grin, and his hair was a bright red. He was standing next to a door with a black and yellow smiley face crudely painted on it. He turned his head to look at me.

"Hey hello there young boy!" He said in a cheery tone. "Welcome, welcome to The Happy Place! Here you will have the most fun you'll ever have in your life!" He pointed a boney finger to the door. "What do you say, young boy?" He looked at me with large unblinking eyes.

I had no idea what to say. The strange man just looked at me waiting for an answer. The man unnerved me. But at the time I didn't really know why. "Come on kid" the Man interrupted my train of thought. "Endless fun and Adventure awaits beyond that door" he turned his head slowly to that door.

I didn't like this. "No… no, I think I'm good" I said, my voice trembling. The man's grin somehow got even wider.  "Oh come on my young boy! Don't you want to have fun! It's just right behind that door. I bet your friends are having tons of fun in there!" I was taken aback by that last statement.

"How did you know I was looking for my friends?" I asked him. His eyes widened. He tilted his head up a bit and paused for a moment. "Well… They told me of course!" He said still in that overly cheery tone. "They're in there waiting for you. All you have to do is walk through this door."

He walked to the door and slowly opened it. He turned his head to look at me and pointed inside the room. It was pitch black. Like if that room or whatever it was, was just an entrance into the void.

I couldn't enter it. I turned around and ran away from there. I looked behind me and just saw the man enter the room and close the door behind him. He was still looking at me. Still with that uncomfortably large grin.

My friends were never found.

Neither was that so-called "Happy Place"

Your Stories / My Only Friend

I called him The Hat Man. He was a strange tall man that would visit me every night when I was a kid. I remember him vividly. He was a tall man with pale white skin and long boney fingers. He always wore a long black coat and black hat.

I remember that his face other than a single eye was completely obscured by his long black hair. He would always appear when my parents were asleep. Then he would just appear. I don't remember how he'd get in my room. He just kinda did.

He would just stand there. Staring at me from the end of my bed. I'd fall asleep with no recollection of feeling tired in the slightest. My parents wouldn't believe me. No one did.

They thought The Hat Man was a bogeyman I made up. Even when he was standing right in front of them. They never saw him. I felt alone. But he kept me company. I started to feel strange wrath from the man. He never talked to me but for some reason his presence made me feel safe.

Like he was the only person I could rely on. I started isolating myself from everyone. Spending more and more time with The Hat Man. Just hours of us staring at each other. Never moving. His unblinking eye staring directly into mine.

But one day he actually spoke. But not like how you and I speak. No. He spoke to me in my head. I remember what he said. " Do you want to leave?", I was taken aback. "I can take you somewhere you won't ever be alone again". I was confused. I didn't know what to say. He got up and reached his hand down to. "Come," he said.

Just before I could make a decision my mother shouted for me to get away from him. The Hat Man jerked his head to look at her and let out a horrible noise. It's kinda hard to describe. The best I can say is that it sounded like a garbled-up mess between child and adult screams.

I don't really remember what happened after that other than waking up back in my bed. Everything seemed to be normal. No more visits from The Hat Man. My parents acted like it never happened. That what happened that night was just a nightmare.

I started to believe it. But recently I've been seeing him again. Everywhere I go. He will be right there. Always watching. Always watching.

Maybe I should take his offer.

Your Stories / RattleBones
« on: 03:12 PM, 09/22/21 »
I don't know exactly how to start this. I'm not exactly used to writing my thoughts down. But I wanted to write this just so I can put it out there and get it over with.

Halloween was approaching.

My friends and I were in 3rd grade at the time. We were excited about the holiday. We loved the scares and candy (mostly the candy). During lunchtime, we all sat together and talked about what we'd dress up as.

Jack wanted to be Ghostface and Tyler wanted to be Optimus Prime. I wanted to be Jason Voorhees. I don't remember how but the conversation changed to talking about "RattleBones". It was an urban legend in our town. Much like Bloody Mary, you'd say his name three times to "summon" him.

You'd know if it was successful if the next morning there was a pile of bones outside your front door. That night he'll creep into your bedroom and snatch you away. The last thing you'll ever hear is the rattling of his bones.

Jack and I didn't believe in it but Tyler did. He always believed in that kind of stuff. Ghosts, aliens, leprechauns, he thought they were all real. "RattleBones is real!" Tyler said. "No, he is not," Jack replied. There was a back and forth between them on whether or not the amalgamation of skull and bone was real. Tyler then said, "well if RattleBones isn't real then I dare you to summon him!". "Fine" Jack said, "but don't cry too hard when he ends up not being real".

When school ended that day Tyler reminded Jack that he had to summon RattleBones tonight. "Unless you're a chicken." We headed home for the weekend.

That Saturday was pretty uneventful for the most part. So when I headed up to Jack's house I didn't expect the pile of bones in front of the door. They caught me off guard at first but I chalked it up to decorations. Jack didn't answer.

The next day I went to the park. I saw Tyler and immediately asked him if he saw Jack. He just shook his head. I asked him if he put the bones in front of Jack's house. He turned pale "no, no I didn't" he insisted.

Jack didn't come to school on Monday.

Jack didn't come back at all.

Years passed and everyone just gave up trying to find him. They thought he was dead. But Tyler and I knew.

RattleBones was real

Your Stories / Memories
« on: 03:11 PM, 09/22/21 »
Hello there, I've never really written anything before. But after what happened I have to get it off my chest. My best friend since kindergarten died a few months ago.

He was found dead in his apartment. Everyone just shrugged it off as "another junkie ODing". But I knew him enough to know that wasn't the case. Not like I could do anything about it. No one listens to me anyway. His name was Edward.

Recently I decided to look at some old photos with the two of us. For old time's sake. In a way, I'm still keeping him alive. Even if it's just preserving those memories.
I looked at a birthday photo of Edward. We must have been 10 at the time. It was one of the best birthday parties I've been to. There he was with his Darth Vader birthday cake.

Though I noticed something odd. Something I've never seen until now. Outside of the window stood a grey blurry figure. I couldn't figure out any of its features. It was just… there.

I was unnerved, to say the least, but I kept looking. It was a photo of both of us at graduation. But to my surprise, the figure was there again. Behind a group of people. I could kind of make out to black spots that could've been its eyes. I looked at another. It was of the both of us playing in my backyard.

We were pretending to both be Spider-Man. We both had those web shooter toys that shot silly string. Those were good times and there it was. Looking at us over the fence. The blurry man.

I was terrified at that point. I don't know what that thing was. I had to see if it was in any other photos. Paranoia had set in as I looked frantically through the many photos. I quickly found out that the figure only appeared in photos of Edward.

Something in my brain clicked then.
I now know why in the few days before his death he'd constantly look over his shoulder.

Your Stories / A Serial Killer Murdered My Brother
« on: 03:03 PM, 09/22/21 »
"The Midnight Mauler"
That's what they called him. Of course, they did. The media will take any chance they get to turn a killer into a celebrity just so they can get a few extra clicks.

I'm sorry, it's just everything feels so… strange. I can't exactly describe it. It happened almost a year ago and they still haven't found the killer. So That's why I'm writing this. To vent out my frustration and tell my recollection of the events. I still feel guilty about it.

That night will never leave my mind. I just got to my brother's house for a weekly visit. I noticed that the front door had been broken off its hinges. Quickly I grabbed my gun and called the police. I was terrified.

I carefully walked into the house. I contemplated whether or not to call for him. Maybe he was alright. Maybe the intruder just grabbed a few things and ran. But my nerves took over. I couldn't speak no matter how hard I tried.

I noticed a pair of muddy shoe prints and slowly, carefully followed them to my brother's bedroom. I feared what I'd see if I opened the door. I pressed my ear against the door to check if I'd hear anything. I did.

Repulsive tearing sounds and what sounded like crunching. I flung the door open and That's when I saw him. Hunched over the torn open mess that used to be my brother. A man wearing all black clothing including a long coat that seemed to drape over the floor below. He just ripped chunks of flesh and organs with his long blood-soaked fingernails.

The sight made me want to cry. But that quickly turned to anger. "HEY", I shouted.  The Man turned his head to look at me. Blood dribbled from his chin. I couldn't make out many of his facial features in the dark but one thing stuck out to me. His razor-sharp teeth.  He must've filed them down or something. He quickly jumped off the bed and headed for the window.

Finally getting the courage I managed to shoot him in the shoulder just before he got out. When the cops finally showed up I told them what happened. They seemed to be amused by my story despite the fact my brother's mutilated cadaver lied right there.

No one believed my story until a few days after. Someone else was found the exact same way. And then another, then another. He became a media sensation then. Various news broadcasts were suddenly talking about "The Midnight Mauler" like he was some sort of bogeyman.

It made me sick. My brother and all the other victims had been reduced to nothing more than a body count to this ongoing slasher. I guess it's true what they say. People love serial killers.
